I'm gonna be sitting this season out as well. I'm gonna be too busy for the next few months, plus I have a lack of interest in pokemon.
Thanks for another great season though yzysg, it was fun. |

So many choices... who should I be?
BTW: Just hyopothetically... if someone picks Wallace, can someone else still be Juan? I imagine there'd be an issue with the whole two gym leaders with the same badge thing. I guess the same is the case with Giovanni and Green. ... and Janine/Koga

Behind the Scenes- The Planning Process
So I just want to share my thought processes when planning this season =) Firstly, this game was supposed to be hosted on a separate board, which I already made here: http://bbmansionofmurder.yuku.com but it didn't work out in the end due to my unfamiliarity with the admin features and stuff. However, that was a good thing because it leads to more diversity of hosting boards as next season's going to be on a completely new board yay <3 There are a few threads on the board... The first is a thead entitled "How to Post a Chat Log". Self-explanatory, nothing interesting there. All the other threads can be found in Grodner's Lair. The first one, "Suggested Competitions", only had 2 of the tasks planned out (both of which I eventually inserted into the game somehow). The Neopet's Buzzer Game was in "One For One" and "Know Thy Houseguests" was obviously "Social Networking" with a few tweaks here and there. It was supposed to be the right-to-stay competition but that changed. "Rooms" is a list of all the rooms. Nothing interesting there, although there was supposed to be a room called the "Loft", but this was eventually scrapped. Now, the thread "Initial Thoughts" is more interesting... I'll explain each of the points one by one as the stuff I wrote there may be confusing as they are only rough ideas, most of which were envisioned in my mind. 10+ rooms--- 1 room closed after each eviction/death Yes, this was the original plan... there would be around 1 room for each houseguest. Each time a houseguest was evicted/murdered, his corresponding room would be closed/locked. 1 puzzle per room??? - if killed solves puzzle, then saved...? Time limit? Another idea that was eventually scrapped... the original plan was to have one puzzle in each of the houseguests' rooms. If the houseguest that was murdered was able to find and solve the puzzle in his/her room within 24 hours of him/her being killed, he/she will be "resurrected" and remain in the game. Again, this twist didn't work out as I couldn't plan so many puzzles in time =) x-parter photograph that identifies the killer- hidden across many rooms This twist was modified in the end... the original idea was to have a photograph that was ripped into many parts and scattered across all the rooms in the mansion. Once the houseguests find all the pieces and pieced them together, they would realize that the photograph was that of the murderer- East Side Dave. This was eventually modified into the 9-parter Murderer's Map that was one of the main twists this season. Advantages that murderer gets...? How to determine killer? - Safe from first eviction - converts a clue - converts a photograph puzzle - converts a houseguest -converts a saving puzzle - choose one, or all? Originally, the murderer was to have one or a few advantages at the start of the game due to his unique position. He could choose from being able to return to the mansion the first time he/she was evicted from it, he could replace a real murderer's clue with his own fake one, he could replace one of the photograph pieces with a bogus, he could "convert" a houseguest into working for him (i.e. Voting the way the murderer asks him/her to, throwing a competition if needed, choosing whether to use the veto etc.) for one week, and finally, he could change one of the room puzzles (mentioned earlier) into a bogus puzzle that does nothing when solved. The dilemma came when choosing whether to award the murderer one of these advantages of his choosing or all of them. In the end, it was decided that the murderer would have no advantages. =) Murderer wins if he is part of final two How to disguise murderer's death until after season ends??? Julie hosts normal BB, BB hosts killer's game Self-explanatory twists. These were the one of the few twists that were NOT modified in any way whatsoever. The question in this section was actually a problem to me, which was to whether I could actually hide the murderer's identity until the end of the season. From the way the season played out, I guess not. ^_^ Challenges for killer game??? - Group clue challenge will earn group clues to killer identity - Immunity challenge? top scorer is immune, others get hints to which room to choose? - Choose room, one room pre-determined to be killing room - how to resolve "seeing the death" and "room is locked" events? Some of these twists made it in with a few modifications. Group clue challenge obviously was the clue challenges, there was ultimately no "immunity challenge", which would have been held during murder weeks and the top scorer would be immune from getting murdered. The way people got murdered also changed very much over the planning stage. THERE WAS ORIGINALLY NO QUIZZES. At the end of murder weeks, each houseguest would choose one room still unlocked in the mansion to be his/her "hiding room". One room was pre-determined to be the killing room, and the houseguest who chose that room would die =) Rooms were chosen on first-come-first-serve basis. In addition, the people who did well on the immunity challenges would receive clues as to which rooms were safe/ which room is the killing room. However, I did not follow through on this idea as I felt that it was very much luck-based and may be a little unfair. The last question was how to both let the houseguests know that someone died but without including all the gory parts. This was resolved by the "disappearances" instead of killings. LOTS OF STUFF TO PLAN OUT! This was motivation. =D Prison Twist Each "BB week", the HOH will choose 1 houseguest to be imprisoned. This houseguest is safe from eviction, BUT he/she will have NO COMMUNICATION with the rest of the houseguests living in the mansion, as this houseguest will be LOCKED in the prison room, in total confinement. He/she will only receive competition and ceremony updates through a VCD he/she will receive at the end of the week, which he/she can play with the provided VCD player and plasma TV. He/she will be released from the prison after the Eviction Ceremony. (Prisoner will not be allowed to send/receive PMs, or access the chatroom) Self-explanatory. Solitary Confinement. In the beginning, since the game was hosted on an individual board, the houseguest wouldn't even get to access the board for the entire week, and will receive PMs about who won what competitions. However, this changed when the game was hosted here at PPB. -Lever connecting Loft to Prison for 1 hour? (Useless twist IMO) -Surveillance camera that allows you to check who is in which room in murder weeks -ONE HUNDRED DAYS or SEVENTY-FIVE DAYS or FIFTY DAYS strictly The first twist was that there was a lever connecting the Loft to the Prison, hence once someone discovered the secret lever in the loft, he/she could communicate with the person in solitary confinement secretly. However, the murderer knows about this lever from the start. I felt this twist was pretty lame, so it was discarded. The other idea I had was to have a surveillance camera hidden somewhere in the mansion. Once found, the houseguest who finds it can know who was in which room during murder weeks. This idea went out the window when the killing room idea was discarded. The last point was to remind me that this game MUST end within 100 days. =) So finally, there was the "Murderer Advantages" thread in which I debated over whether the murderer should get advantages and if so, what. Choose 1? Or have all? Again, asking myself whether the murderer should choose an advantage or just receive all of them. =) Advantage 1: Killer receives a token (marked with a drop of blood) that allows him to go back into the Mansion by inserting the token into a hidden slot in the Basement. This token will depress a button that will unlock the door for 15 minutes starting from after the killer drops it in. However, once the token is inserted, it is non-retrievable, meaning that he can only use this token once. In addition, since everybody must immediately leave the mansion after the Eviction Ceremony, thus the killer will have no time to insert the token after the Eviction Ceremony, meaning he must insert the token BEFORE the Eviction Ceremony begins. In the event that the killer inserts the token but does not get evicted, the killer will not be able to retrieve the token. THIS ADVANTAGE IS PERMANENT. (Will the wrong evictee get a chance to discover the slot?) This is essentially the same as the Blood Key. Yes, indeed, in the beginning, the murderer would receive the blood key (or token, in this case), which can be used before he thinks he will be evicted. If he did anticipate his eviction and insert the token before the eviction ceremony, he would be saved. However, the dilemma came if the killer inserted the token when he was not in danger and another houseguest was evicted instead. Will this houseguest be saved too? That was the main problem with this twist. Advantage 2: Killer discovers a lever in the mansion that, when pulled, unlocks a secret passageway from the Loft to the Prison. This means that the killer may visit the prison anytime and interact with the prisoner. However, this lever can only be pulled once a week, and each time, it will only allow access to the Prison for 1 hour before the lever resets and the secret passageway is closed. THIS ADVANTAGE IS PERMANENT. (Caution about other people discovering the lever?) Basically an extension of the "lever in the loft" idea. I still feel this advantage is pretty useless. Advantage 3: Killer is able to plant a fake clue if and when the houseguests win a clue challenge. However, if they win the next consecutive challenge, they will receive a hint as to the fake clue's authenticity. Basically what I wrote. In the end, I decided that the killer would receive no advantages because he was already safe during murder weeks. =P Coming up, the final plot detail for this season... the EPILOGUE. What happened to East Side Dave in the end? Did he get arrested... or worse?

Maybe you could also request that the rest of the applicants use Male gym leaders... they're quite underrepresented.
I guess it also helps that Roxanne is the only female left. |
