Here are my cunty guest judge comments on all the MOR designers this week, from favourite to least favourite:
maadx (SO RAWBBED!) If this design was for 'Piggies', it would be my favourite dress of all-time because it makes the model look like a fierce porcine eye-smiling goddess. Replacing her legs with a giant prune is a bold choice, but the surgery paid off. I wish the Statue of Liberty was wearing this instead of a dusty old stone toga. snowboarders only (ALSO NOTICEABLY RAWBBED) I actually preferred the original version of the dress, apart from the trucker-cap, since it seemed more magical without being 'sorceror costume'. But it still works and I can totally see some stinking hippy wearing at Woodstock. (also The yellow bustier part reminded me of Raquel Welch on the poster for the 'The Biggest Bundle Of Them All', which is on my wall right now <3 So fierce)
jensa I'm a bit baffled by the purple thing on the right side of her body - is it an undergarment or part of the dress? Regardless, I like the colour, I like the look (though I'm not sure how it would work in motion) and appreciate that this is one the few I could immediately connect to a Beatles song on first glance. Mugatu The connection to the song is a little dubious, but as a dress itself, it's fabulous and if this was just a "dress a hippy" challenge, I might have put it as the best - it's very hard to do a two-tone dress without looking like a cartoon harlequin but this manages it. I can see how a doctor's outfit could have turned into a bit hot messy (like Jerry's American Psycho outfit in PR5 Ep 1 <3), but I would have liked to at least have seen some clear silver on the dress. kishuu A black outfit with stars. Didn't hate it. Solid MOR piece - if the beatnik influence went beyond "wearing black", I might have loved it. Yema In a song full of corporation T-shirts, yellow matter custard and pornographic priestesses, we get a plain green dress. Of all the designs, this one really needed to be busy. And green = grass/weed, not acid. It's a shame I can't see any connection between the lyrics or even the 60s, because it's otherwise a nicely done outfit. But the shoes stand out the most, which probably isn't a great thing. Nick Can anyone look at this without humming the 'I Dream of Jeannie' theme? It looks more 'Abbott and Costello: Lost In A Harem' than hippyish. Beyond that, I don't get the way the belt goes under her boobs instead of her wist and the scarf is really unnecessary. I do like the colour-scheme, but it's the only piece that looks too costumey, even by my standards.

Okay guuuuurrrls (and boys), I'm back to bless you all with my judgements.
I'll start with the people I think don't belong out on the runway today - first, Destinys Champion. My smiling eyes just aren't seeing what the other judges are seeing - you have strong technical skills, that's for sure. But apart from that, this is just a standard little flowery dress; there's nothing exciting about it. And I'm really not a fan of the cased-in-plastic look, it's one step away from turning the models into blow-up dolls. Next, Thingamajig, who a lot of the judges turned on in this round. Apart from the epilepsy-inducing background, I thought this was a fairly solid effort - certainly not amazing, but it's not bottom three material in my eyes. Maybe it's just my undying love for gradient fills. But I also thought the cross-over suspenders underneath the outfit was an interesting design touch. The sunglasses kind of make Sherbette look like a human-fly hybrid though. And then there's Gaprizelle, in her third week in the top three. I really love this dress - it would have been easy to go over the top with Lucy in the Sky and create a pukatronic rainbow mess, but you've gone the clazzy route and it's paid off. I can really imagine someone wearing this to a ball or on the red carpet - the flowers look great and I love the smoky, swirling stems. I also like how subtle the stars under the brazziere are; overall it's hard to fault this. Maybe it was unwise to get my hopes up that SFGP would have a turn-around in this challenge, because it turns out altering your methods for this round didn't pay off. There's almost no connection to the song. The blue skirt is distractingly shiny and in a pretty gross shade of blue. And your makeover of Cerys is hardly inspiring - she now has crazy crack eyes and look like she's sucking a lemon. Perhaps you need to reconsider your methods yet again - if you make it to the next round, that is. Now, on to oh ehm gee... I love this. It would have been so easy for it to look like a cheesy joke but you managed to turn the weed into a cute dress girls would actually want to wear. I really like the filmy straps at the top, and the almost-invisible geometric patterns coming off the dress at the bottom. Also, you did a great job matching the shoes and the accessories - overall, it's an impressive look. And finally, we come to dapa, who managed to both miss the mark on his inspiration of Eleanor Rigby, and take the song's message too literally. The broken hearts are just cheesy, but they're about the only link to loneliness in the outfit. What makes you think that punks are lonely? They're all united in their common hatred of monarchies and the government and shit. Plus they've got mosh pits - no-one's ever lonely in a mosh pit. Besides, it doesn't even look very punk to me - as Level Jay mentioned, the little vest brings it closer to a country and western look, which is all kinds of wrong. I guess I don't hate the skirt, so it's not completely terrible, but that's about the best thing I can say about it. Oh yeah, maadx is still here... is Pavlova still under there? She can breathe in that get-up, right? Anyway, you've transformed her into a FIERCE parade float, which actually suits 'Don't Pass Me By' quite well with it's kind of circusy sound. I also like how she's got random pieces of purple wire jutting out of her gigantic dress - so avante garde. I'll return soon with the results. One of you will be the FIERCEST, and will receive immunity for the next round, while one of you will be UNFIERCE. So start planning your tearful closing confessionals now.

I just want to let everyone know that the look that I gave my highest score to is NOT standing on the runway right now. Which means that I am mostly not happy
with these looks. In fact, I thought only like 4 of you actually did a good job while the rest of you were MOR-ish or just plain terrible.
GP... I'm afraid this is the end of you. Whoops, did I just give it away!?!? Well, we all know that it's coming. I appreciate the effort, but this is just wrong wrong wrong. The clothes have nothing to do with the song and they're ugly. That's about it. Gaprizelle, I'm not as enthusiastic about your outfit as Level Banks is, but I did give you a good score. I love the diamonds/sparkles and the bustier, but what I do not love is the flowers. I think I would appreciate them more if they were smaller or more elegantly placed, but it seems to me like they were just slapped right on the front. I do like everything else about the dress like the color, the cut, the length, etc.... I'm just not lovin those flowers. DC, WTF is everybody talkin bout callin your outfit plastic!?!? It looks shimmering! <3 Just like the sun!... I just wish the colors reflected that a little bit more. I like the idea of making a sun dress for "Here Comes The Sun" but I was kind of hoping it would be yellow. Of course, I can't fault your execution as it's marvelous like your previous designs, but I just wish your color pallet was a little bit different. Speaking of yellow, I am not loving this yellow atrocity created by Thinga. Let's get something that was hard to overlook but did NOT affect my judging out of the way: the background. It's fugly. Now, to comment on the things that actually did affect judging. I hate the under-the-shirt suspenders. The shorts are grossly short and unflattering. And the sunglasses make her look like a fly as Level Banks already commented on. I never take off points for hair either, but if I could have for this hair style, I would have. She looks like an aging balding man. If there's anything that almost saved this outfit from getting my worst rank, it's the uneven sleeves (which, with any other song, would have been a detractor). However, I like the sleeves and it adds to the helter skelterness. I do NOT condone drug use, but OMG your dress is fabulous! I LOVE your use of hemp as a fabric. The sheer top part adds to the overall look, too. And FINALLY someone in this competition that knows how to accessorize! Shoes, bracelet, belt, they're all perfect! This outfit is really just the only one that I think got this theme. Thank you OMG. I pretty much lost faith in you after season 2, but this outfit has put you back on top (PS, I also loved your super hero outfit last week). Now for dapa... When I heard that you got "Eleanor Rigby" I cringed. Because when I think about Eleanor Rigby, I think of sadness, despair, death.. So what could a designer make for this theme? A funeral dress!!! And then I remembered your funeral dress from last season and I just knew that you would not do well. Well, you didn't do a funeral dress, but instead you did a crappy outfit that didn't realte to the song at all. Now, I'm not hating the skirt because it's kinda cute (although, you have to watch with placing jewels and stuff like that near the vag), but the shirt is plain and the hearts are oddly placed. The vest offers a splash of color which was nice but it's just not helping the overall look. Your main problem is that this is just not fashion. ^_^

Thanks ye olde parrot, (sorry I've set my facebook on pirate and it's seeping into my regular speech) looking at it now I wish I had given the flowers
a twisteroo or shrinkeroo.
I don't really understand why dapa is bottom 3 though. The outfit has nothing to do with the song but I think it's quite cute anyway. |

Hey, molls! This round is really not impressive as the last but overall, I think you guys did a good job. There is one outfit that wow'ed me so much tho.
And it's by far, my favorite design of this season. And... it came from you,
OMG! It came from you, oh em gee. The usage of marijuana leaves is very clever and you used them perfectly! The design is very cute, chic, and elegant and if a woman wears this to a party, she'll be the star of that night. Your model looks really great in this outfit and she looks like a total badass! You proved to us how truly great you are as a designer. Season 2 has been really hard for you and we are so happy that you're back in great shape! Keep up the good work, man. GP, you really disappointed, dude! I expected more from you because you said that you're going to use your real life tools for this round! Now, you know how I feel about those real life tools. Just to remind you, I was the sole designer in PR1 that used them. ^_^ Anyway, the design is not really bad but I do not see the connection of it to the song! You could have thought of a more classy outfit but you didn't! You have more options in what you're going to do because you're using your RL tools but you didn't explore those options. Also, this reminds me a bit too much of dapa/kishuu's asian table cloth design. Now let's move over to Gaprizelle. As usual, you produced one of the best outfits this round. I really have nothing to say about you right now, gurl. You're always here on the runway and I'm running out of words! I always say that your execution is outstanding, you use your textures very well, and you know very well your aesthetics. Uhm, just keep up the good work! Dapa, your outfit is very amateurish. The outlines were fug and the design as a whole is really ugly. I'm sorry, dapa, but you knew that people are expecting much from you because you got a really good Beatle's song and you didn't step it up! I know that you're capable of doing something good, dapa. You do not want to disappoint your brother, right? I really like your outfit, DC. The sparkling texture is really good and it reminds me so much of the sun! My only problem with your outfit is that if you remove those sparkly thingies, it would just be a very simple dress. What I want from you now is to take more risks and do something risky for the next challenge. Thinga, I really don't hate your design. I personally love the concept but what I don't like is the choice of color. I really don't like the orange-yellow combination. It hurts my eyes so much. Anyway, my main problem with this one is the background. You shouldn't have included that background cuz it ruins the overall look of your outfit. I'm off now, designers. I need some effin' sleep.

Your task this challenge was to take inspiration from arguably the most influential band of all time. Some of you excelled at this task, while others fell very
flat. I just wish Michael Jackson had died a day or two earlier - imagine how sensitive and caring I would have looked to dedicate this challenge to him
instead. What a missed opportunity.
Anyway, one of you will be the FIERCEST and will win immunity in the next challenge, while one of you will be UNFIERCE. We'll start with our previous immunity winner, DC... Thingamajig, this is your first time on the runway, and it's because you've landed in the bottom three... And now for the winner of this challenge. Gaprizelle, oh ehm gee, both of you did an excellent job... Now, on to dapa and SFGP. dapa, your outfit was seen as misguided and lacking focus, while we question whether SFGP has the design skills to continue in this industry. dapa... Which means, SFGP... Oh yeah, I said someone will be UNFIERCE, right? Well, maadx... Challenge four will be posted shortly. ETA: Results -

He really biffed the interpretation of one of the most popular Beatles songs. But popular =/ easy to work with. And I don't think he was one of the worst few offenders in the "paying absolutely no attention to the song" category. |
