Posts: 136 07/01/09 6:40 AM	Opening sequence <3 (It's better than TAR's in some ways), and the music is EPIC. Right, so I totally just finished my exams (with dubious results), and so now I'm bored, and I will now do something that I wanted to do for a really REALLY long time: rank Treasure Hunter eps! I wanted to rank this over at CTS but since the games locking I've been rather meh about that forum and besides, PPB only has like, one ranking thread so far which is really little. =O Anyway, Treasure Hunters was a show that premiered on NBC in the year 2006, and it was basically a TAR ripoff. Main difference: Teams had to solve much more complicated and difficult clues compared to TAR and each team had 3 group members instead of 2. Treasure Hunters suffered poor ratings (which was understandable, considering how other "smart" shows like The Mole also had poor ratings) and it was SEVERELY UNDERRATED (I thought it was better than some recent TAR seasons imo). But then, considering how I love puzzles, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I would love this show. Moving on... the premise of the show (in case you haven't watched it or had forgotten): Basically, 10 teams will solve puzzles and complete challenges in order to get a total of 7 artifacts. Once all 7 artifacts have been collected, they would supposedly "reveal a treasure worth millions". If I have time, I will rank the�Treasure Hunter teams (after this) but one thing at a time. Some pros of this show: - Ingenious clues - Surprising twists - Entertaining teams (Fogals <3) -Manages to make American locales look interesting and fun (unlike TAR:Family >_>) MAJOR CONS though: - Laird Macintosh is seriously the worst. host. ever. - Major major product placement�(even worse than Travelocity on TAR): Laird would communicate with the teams via a Motorola 99.99% of the time, in fact he only appeared live to the teams TWO times, the premiere, and the finale. >_> And who can forget "Ask.com" and "Visa credit card" placements too? - And, keeping in form with TAR/any reality show, WORST. WINNERS. EVER. Geniuses did not deserve the win at all. Having said that, I will probably start ranking soon, and the first ranking probably won't be a shocker to anyone who has watched the show.�� Last Edited By: yzysg 07/01/09 9:02 AM. Edited 3 times.

My second favos from the whole cast (except one of the hot Miss Worlds <3) I was hoping this would be a Treasure Hunters game But Wild Hanlons getting lost in a mine, or team CIA losing by a few seconds ftw! Second Paris leg or Browns coming back ftl.

Posts: 139 07/01/09 9:00 AM	No shocker that the worst episode in the series is.... 9. Finale + Reunion This is the most hideously planned Finale and Reunion that I have ever seen in my life, EVER. And that includes the "I'm a Celebrity" reunion episode. The first 15 minutes centered on 3 teams being stuck in one small room fiddling with a small cryptex while the Geniuses sleep. -.- And then, as if by some miracle, Francis is able to try the code "FSKEY" which amazingly, is the right combination. Okay, when I found out the combination was "FSKEY" I was a little disappointed, truth be told. The producers (through Laird) had hinted on so many things of importance--- the wall symbols, the book about the "Star-Spangled Banner", the map, and in the end, the code had NOTHING to do with all of them? WTH? If there was a connection, I couldn't see it, I mean, I know Francis Scott Key was instrumental in writing the national anthem but then I would have thought the semi-transparent maps (with a mark of all the locations) would mean more than just... a mark of all the locations visited. It was poorly planned and disappointing. That wasn't the worst part, however. The worst was yet to come. The Genworth Financial Treasure Hunt! This distracting piece of product placement s*** was so irritating and utterly pointless (considering that they showed it in like, what, 3-minute snippets?) that I wondered why they even bothered showing it. The clues were lame (count the number of stars and stripes? Really?) and we barely saw anything except the winner, Scott, running around and the wheel-chair woman chasing him that it was so obvious who was going to win in the first minute of the entire crapfest. Then, there was the reunion. I was so excited to see the Fogals and Miss USA teams back and instead of interviewing them, what do they do? SHOW RECAPS. Dude, we've seen those clips before, there's no reason to look at it again (even though some are funny, granted). Worse still, because of this, Laird had to cut off most of the teams' replies which was very annoying. Oh, and did I mention Laird speaks even more robotically than Chenbot? Of course, then there was the Geniuses fiasco in which the Geniuses spent too much time hugging other teams and Laird had to literally SHOUT and PULL for them to come over to him. Can anyone say awkward? And the cherry on top of the icing was the grand reveal. The secret that NBC has been pimping all season, how much was the treasure? A pittance $3,000,000. Okay, actually I initially thought it was rather impressive, given TAR only awards $1,000,000. Too bad there was a condition that says that the $1,000,000 for each genius will be paid over a 20-year annuity. >_> Classic NBC redirection. If they went for the lump sum, I bet they wouldn't even get half a million each. All in all, the reunion is what all reunions should NOT be, and it was just terribly planned and made for a lot of awkward scenes.

Posts: 7 07/07/09 6:11 PM	Treasure Hunters <3 I fucking loved that show when it first premiered, and I caught it again when I was in Mexico last year (mostly the epic showdown between Air Force and the Fogals in the church). I'm so going to play that online game again, and Fogals FTW!
